Thousands of plans have been prepared under Mike's auspices since he moved to Houston in the 1970's. After preparing plans and selling new homes for two volume builders for a few years, Mike established Michael Hall Designs and rode the Houston building boom, developing his business to a professional staff of 16 personnel.

He built a reputation with speculative homebuilders for innovative plans and beautiful, highly saleable homes. Michael Hall Designs produced plans for the then-largest homebuilder in the country in several of their developments and designed and drafted a large number of custom plans up to 10,000 square feet. It was during this time that Mike purchased his first CAD (Computer Assisted Design/Drafting) system to produce plans. This venture was an example of being too innovative - the slow speed, and primitive software of the time made the move a major mistake, and it was soon abandoned for a return to traditional drafting.

In the late 1980's the sunny skies and construction climate of San Diego enticed him to Southern California. Remodeling was booming and, always looking for a challenge and new experience, he became a Designer/Sales Representative for a major, long-established local remodeling company.

After 7 years, Michael once again opened his own office. This time as a one-man plan service specializing in additions and remodeling; and then, gradually he returned to designing custom homes and speculative homes for small builders ranging mostly from 2,000 to 6,000 square feet. Some of the most innovative, exciting designs in the country are produced in Southern California to meet the high expectations of that clientele.

Mike had promised Amy, his wife, a flower enthusiast, that one day they would get a spread for Amy's Garden. So in November 2004, they moved to the beautiful Olympic Peninsula in the Pacific Northwest, in the foothills of the Olympic National Forest.

Amy now has two acres in Sequim, Washington and in eight months she transformed a mostly grassy area into a vibrant, colorful, beautiful, spectacular flower garden, with new paths, arbors, birdhouses, statues, seating areas and a trellised Rose Garden. The home was partially remodeled and with Amy's artistic talent, beautifully furnished and decorated. After retiring as a very busy mortgage loan officer with Countrywide Home Loans, she is now enjoying the slower pace of Sequim and is ready for a new challenge bringing her substantial design and creative abilities to the new MICHAEL HALL Designs --- servicing the needs of builders and clients from near and far.


And, YES, he has again ventured into CAD. Since 1997, he has been using the most amazing, innovative, exciting CAD software on the planet. His clients have been receiving the most accurate, easy to read plans ever. 3 Dimensional Computer Design and Modeling provides builders and homeowners a clearer understanding of the project and the opportunity to make improvements before it is built, often avoiding costly change-orders and providing a deeper satisfaction for the homeowner when it is built.
